Did anyone buy this? I picked it up yesterday and was wondering if anyone would be interested in some matches at a less ungodly hour (yes, I do realize it's 5:30 in the AM... at least on the east coast.)

I've just been playing through the incredibly short story modes for each character and did a few online bouts. I like the game... it's pretty, the new characters are kind of cool, but the create a character thing didn't work like I expected it too. Even though you have to edit an existing character I guess there will be a robust enough inventory of equipment to make it feel a little less shallow eventually.

Sounds like create a character is still fail. It will be a game I pick up when I get a 360...one of these paychecks...

I don't have the system for it yet.

One of these days I will get a 360 for that game.
don't care about it on other systems.

It's not out here yet...

I might, potentially, possibly, get it. But I'll also need another controller for multiplayer with friends...

Of course the reason garm said is pretty much also a main reason for me.
well, his first reason.

Do the CPUs still input-read like in SC3? (I can't get it unless they Namco decides to release it for PC, or I download a 360 emulator =P)

To be honest I don't believe I ever played SC3. It still feels like a Soul Calibur game, though. The AI on the computer opponents isn't the brightest thing in the world... Though I haven't gone into the "Tower of Lost Souls" mode yet, all of the enemies in arcade/story mode (even on hard) can be cheesed through with nothing more than chaining throws together.

If you're asking something else, sorry, it went over my head.

The only problem with the Soul Calibur series is the same problem with any fighting game. You can spend hours learning and practising one characters move list, weeks of fighting computer controlled characters and still get your ass kicked in so many ways by a button masher.

Soul Calibur 2 and 3 were very guilty of this fact. I won't be intrested in 4 unless this has been fixed.

Well, it hasn't. I've only played for one day but I've gotten to the point where I know a handful of moves with Cervantes and his doppleganger Shura so that I can dispatch people at least half of the time online. At the same time if I come up against a guy using Mitsurugi he will more than likely kill me by just spamming one of his sword swings over and over again, or a Maxi that is flipping around the battlefield like he is steamrolled on cocaine due to the person playing him just mashing the buttons.

Someone really needs to make a fighting game where there is geniune need to learn the buttons or else prepare to get your ass kicked again and again. I can understand why developers want to make games with a flat line for a difficulty curve to make them more accessible but it just takes all the fun out of it at the same time.

Xbox 360 and he's a little shit bag because you can't grab him or even hit him with attacks higher than the lowest possible attacks.

I'll be getting the PS3 version then. It's a shame you can't have both... Or can you?

Have both as in ... both copies of the game or as in Yoda and Vader? As it is there is one character spot left on the select screen after unlocking every other character so it is quite possible that Vader and Yoda will be released as DLC to the other console sometime down the line.

If they know what's good for them, they will... How can they tease you with that shit and not let you have Vader VS Yoda duels?
